How to Tether a PC or Laptop to an Android :
You will need to find the settings ‘cog’ on your mobile device:
This looks like a gear and will usually be revealed after swiping down from the top of the screen.
- Once available click on this to reveal your phone settings, navigate to connections and from there an option for hot-spot / tethering should be available :

From this area you configure your mobile to use a wi-fi hotspot by toggling the appropriate slider, as shown above, to make it active.

Then set an appropriate / memorable hot-spot password on your mobile device.

Now on your PC/laptop, your mobile device hotspot should show in your internet connections list, as shown in the example below:
- You will need to input the hot-spot password you setup on your mobile, when you select the phone – hot-spot as a connection.
Now your pc/laptop will use your phone like a normal router and connect to the internet this way.
** Please be aware that you will be using your mobile data-plan – this can be expensive if you use in excess of your available data; so please check this before continuing. **
How to Tether a PC or Laptop to an I-Phone :
You can use a Personal Hotspot to share an internet connection from your iPhone to other devices.
Personal Hotspot is useful when the other devices don’t have internet access from a Wi-Fi network.
Set up Personal Hotspot on an iPhone:
Go to Settings > tap Set Up Personal Hotspot, then follow the onscreen instructions.
You can change the following settings:
- Change the Wi-Fi password for your Personal Hotspot: Go to Settings > Personal Hotspot > Wi-Fi Password.
- Turn off Personal Hotspot and disconnect devices: Go to Settings > Personal Hotspot, then turn off Allow Others to Join.
Once your personal hot-spot has been configured and a password set, on your pc or mac :
On a MAC:
Use Wi-Fi to connect from a Mac:
On a Mac, click the Wi-Fi status menu in the menu bar, then choose your iPhone from the list of available networks.
If asked for a password, enter the password shown in Settings > Personal Hotspot on your iPhone.
The Wi-Fi status icon in the menu bar changes to the Personal Hotspot icon
as long as your Mac remains connected to your Personal Hotspot.
On a PC:
Use Wi-Fi to connect from a PC:
In the Wi-Fi settings on your PC, choose your phone, then enter the password shown in Settings > Personal Hotspot on your phone.
Now your pc/laptop will use your phone like a normal router and connect to the internet this way.
